Police ID woman killed, arrest man in assault at same home

Jul 16, 2008

Jacksonville police have identified a woman killed Tuesday in a shooting on West First Street.

Angela Evette Knight, 35, was shot and killed inside a home in the 3000 block of West First Street.

Neighbors told police they saw a blue, late-model Buick with dark-tinted windows driving through the neighborhood when shots were fired shortly before 3 p.m. The car fled east on First Street after the shooting.

Police arrested a man later that night in connection with a July 9 incident at the home. Kensey Arrowton Lindsey, 18, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a delinquent felon, according to the arrest report.

A 63-year-old resident of the home called authorities that day after she said a man waved a gun at her and threatened to shoot everyone inside the house. He had earlier been told to leave the property, according to the police report. Knight was there that night, but police did not say if Lindsey is a suspect in her slaying.

There was another shooting a few hours later on the same street. An 18-year-old was shot at as he walked down the 2200 block of West First Street about 7 p.m. The victim told police he thought the shooting was a retaliation for a previous slaying in the neighborhood.
