Jaguars rookie cornerback Trae Williams signed a four-year contract on Wednesday, leaving the club with just two rookies to sign before the start of training camp.
The second of the club's two fifth-round draft picks, Williams signed a contract similar to the one signed last week by rookie linebacker Thomas Williams. Thomas Williams' deal includes base salaries of $295,000, $385,000, $470,000 and $555,000 and a signing bonus of $174,500. Only the signing bonus is guaranteed.
Trae Williams' signing bonus is in the $170,000 range.
Williams is University of South Florida’s career leader in interceptions (16) and last season played alongside first-round pick Mike Jenkins (Dallas Cowboys). Williams is expected to compete in training camp for the starting nickel job.
Still unsigned are the Jaguars’ first and second-round picks: Defensive ends Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves.
